The course.

All four races finish at the same line on Esplanade Way in the SouthWood State Office Complex. The 1-mile Turkey Gobbler starts first, a little closer to Shumard Oak Boulevard, and runs a flat rectangle. The 5K, 10K and 15K start together on Esplanade Way and share the route for a little over 2 miles, heading out along Shumard Oak Boulevard and around Central Park Lake on Grove Park Drive. The 5K then turns back to the finish; the organizer says it has one hill but is a fast course. The 10K and 15K stay together for about another 2.3 miles before splitting at School House Road and Terrebonne Drive, where the 15K carries on along Biltmore Avenue to a turnaround and comes back on the bike path around the lake. Runners may switch between the 5K, 10K and 15K during the race as long as they cover the full course they finish. The courses are USATF certified and chip timed, with four water stops. Everyone is asked to finish by 10:30 AM, headphones are discouraged, and dogs other than service dogs are not allowed.

Getting there.

Bibs and shirts are handed out at the Turkey Trot Festival at Goodwood Museum & Gardens, 1600 Miccosukee Road, on Sunday, November 22 (1:30 to 5:00 PM), with live music, exhibitors and on-site registration. Pickup then moves to Premier Health & Fitness Center, 3521 Maclay Boulevard, on November 23 and 24 (11:00 AM to 6:00 PM) and November 25 (11:00 AM to 5:00 PM). Race-morning registration and pickup near the start on Esplanade Way close at 7:30 AM. Designated parking lots are shown on the organizer's parking map; Lot 3, reached from Tram Road and Capital Circle, is described as the quickest to get into.
