California International Marathon.
A point-to-point December marathon from Folsom to the California State Capitol in Sacramento, on a net-downhill course the organizer promotes as a leading Boston qualifier. It is put on by the nonprofit Sacramento Running Association, with a two-person relay alongside the marathon.

The course.
The course runs from near Folsom Dam in Folsom to the California State Capitol in downtown Sacramento. The organizer says the route has not changed in 42 years and describes gentle rolling hills with a flat, fast finish and a net drop of 366 feet. It is USATF certified and sanctioned, and a Boston Marathon qualifying course. There are 17 aid stations with water and electrolyte drink, including downtown Fair Oaks, J Street at the Elvas Bridge and Sutter's Fort, plus three self-refill water stations, new for 2026, at about miles 6.7, 14 and 20.5. Wheeled athletes and ambulatory athletes with disabilities start at 6:53 AM and the mass start is at 7:00 AM. The start line closes at 7:30 AM and the finish at 1:30 PM, a six-hour limit (13:44 per mile). The relay's second leg starts near the 13.5-mile mark at Manzanita Avenue and Fair Oaks Boulevard.

Getting there.
Bib, shirt and participant bag pickup is at the CIM Expo at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center, 1400 J Street, Sacramento, on Friday, December 4 (1:00 to 7:00 PM) and Saturday, December 5 (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM). There is no race-day pickup. Every runner must ride one of the start line buses from the designated pick-up locations, which is included in registration. There is no gear check at the start; gear can be checked at the expo or at bus loading on race morning.
