The course.
Both races start on Young Street at 8:30 AM, with a second start at 9:00 AM; wheelchair racers go at 8:25 AM. The certified 5K heads into Deep Ellum, comes back through downtown on Main Street and finishes on Young Street in front of Pioneer Plaza and the Dallas Police Memorial. The 8-mile run also goes through Deep Ellum and downtown on Main Street, then passes Reunion Tower and crosses a viaduct into Oak Cliff before returning to finish at City Hall Plaza. Walkers start at the back of the pack. Anyone who has not passed Union Station by 10:45 AM is sent on a shorter route to the finish, the 8-mile course closes at the mile 4 marker at 11:00 AM, and the whole course closes at noon. Only timed entrants are eligible for awards; the Timed Runner Corral opens at 7:30 AM, holds about 900 people and is closed to dogs and strollers. Leashed dogs and strollers are welcome from the back of the run/walk pack.
